Erika Dreifus Joins Fig Tree Books as Media Editor

I am delighted to announce that Erika Dreifus, PhD, an advocate for literature on the American Jewish Experience (AJE) and an experienced communications professional, has joined Fig Tree Books (FTB) as Media Editor, effective August 4, 2014. In this role, Erika will be managing FTB’s digital social-media presence, assisting with traditional marketing efforts, curating guest editorials and reader reviews for our website (www.FigTreeBooks.net), contributing her own commentaries, liaising with organizations and publications listed within our AJE links, and participating in other projects, including video and podcast interviews featuring our authors.

Erika brings to this position a demonstrated passion for literature on the American Jewish experience. She is the author of Quiet Americans: Stories (Last Light Studio), which was named an American Library Association Sophie Brody Medal Honor Title (for outstanding achievement in Jewish Literature), a Jewish Journal “Notable Book,” and a Shelf Unbound “Top Small-Press Book.” Erika’s short stories, essays, poems, and reviews have appeared in The Barnes & Noble Review, The Forward, Jewish Ideas Daily, Moment magazine, The Washington Post, and numerous other significant Jewish and mainstream publications.

Erika comes to FTB from The City University of New York, where she was most recently Director of Communications for the central Office of Academic Affairs. She is a former lecturer on History and Literature at Harvard University and has taught writing at Harvard and elsewhere. Born in Brooklyn and raised there and in New Jersey, Erika earned a bachelor’s degree from Harvard/Radcliffe, a master’s in education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a PhD in modern French history from Harvard University. She also holds an MFA in creative writing.
