Library Journal Heralds Alan Cheuse’s “Classic Return”

“[I]n 1986, Cheuse’s novel The Grandmothers’ Club was published. The story centers around Jewish grandmother Minnie Bloch, whose family is slowly falling apart. Minnie tells the story of her son Manny, a renowned rabbi who abandons the pulpit for a business career. The novel has been retitled Prayers for the Living and will be published by Fig Tree Books, a new independent press with a mission is ‘to publish the best fiction on the American Jewish experience.'”
